How To Get Wrinkles Out Of Carpet

When carpets are installed, they’re often stretched and attached to tack strips to hold them in place.

However, over time carpets will lose their elasticity, creating ripples.

If your carpet is suffering from ripples, don’t fret, as the process of repairing it is actually much simpler than you think.

It’s also much more cost-effective than replacing your carpet.

If the ripple is small, you can fix it by flattening it with your hand or by using a rolling pin.

But if ripples are more severe, you may need special tools such as something called a knee kicker or carpet power stretcher.

How To Get Wrinkles Out Of Carpet: Step By Step

The first task is to remove all furniture from the room including any heavy items that have the biggest drag on the carpet.

Now check the carpet seams and look for any other parts you may need to fix.

Release the carpet from the tack strips if necessary and place the knee kicker in front of you, approaching the edge of the carpet inch by inch.

Keep going until you’re content with how the carpet looks.

You can always trim excess carpet and join it to the tack strip later.

If you can’t achieve the results you were hoping for with the knee kicker, you may need to use a carpet power stretcher.

They can be quite pricey, so we suggest renting one from a local shop.

Using the machine is simple enough; simply click the power structure onto the tack strip and ensure the machine’s teeth are grasping the carpet.

Now you let the machine run and do its work.

Make sure to reattach the tack strips and you’re done.

If neither of these methods work for you, it’s best to hire a professional.
